Rev. Dr. Fred Deegbe

Chair of Governing Board

Rev. Dr. Frederick P. Deegbe, Senior Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church is a minister in the Ghana
Baptist Convention, and was ordained on the 27th of November, 1983. He was born on 9th
February, 1955 in Keta in the Volta Region of Ghana and is a native of Anyako.

His educational background is both extensive and diverse and includes having attained the L.L.B.
(Bachelor of Law) from the Ghana Law School along with two ministerial degrees: the M.Div. (Master
of Divinity) from Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas (USA) and the D.Min.
(Doctorate of Ministry) which he received in December 2003 from Asbury Theological Seminary in
Wilmore, Kentucky (USA), where he completed his doctoral thesis on Mentoring: A Key to the
Growth of the Church.
Rev. Dr. Deegbe has served in a number of pastoral and ministerial capacities that include working as
the Assistant Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church from 1980 to 1983, as a Chaplain at Baylor University
Medical Centre from 1985 to 1988 in Dallas, Texas (USA), as a Lecturer at Ghana Baptist Seminary
from 1989 to 1991, as the Senior Pastor of New Tafo Baptist Church, Kumasi, Ghana from 1989 to
1991. He was appointed Senior Pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church in 1991. In 2004, Rev. Dr. Fred
Deegbe, was appointed the General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, where he served
until May 2013.
His career path also includes having served on the Executive and Finance Committees of the
Christian Council of Ghana from 1992 to 1999. From 1998 to date he served the Ghana Baptist
Convention in various capacities – Interim President, President, Member of the Executive

Committee, Member of the Theological Education Board and Chairman of the Governing Council of
the Ghana Baptist Seminary.
Currently, he serves on a number of national boards and commissions including the Ghana Anti
Corruption Commission ; Ghana Media Commission, Ghana Aids Commission, All Africa Conference
of Churches among others.

Bishop Titi-Ofei has been among the 100 most influential people in Ghana every year for the last 5 years and recently selected among 50 most influential Christian leaders in Ghana.

He is considered as an astute scholar on contemporary and behavioral leadership. He was a Professor of leadership on the Australia Institute of Business’ MBA for a number of years. He holds a Master’s degree in Governance and Leadership.

Bishop Titi-Ofei served as a member of the National Peace Council board for a period of 4 years and currently serves as the General Secretary of the National Association of Charismatic and Christian Churches (NACCC), a parasol body for the charismatic churches in Ghana and presides over the Pleasant Place Churches worldwide.

Rev. Hon. John Ntim Fordjour

Deputy Minister for Education, Republic of Ghana & Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin South Constituency

The Honorable Reverend John Ntim Fordjour is the Deputy Minister for Education responsible for General Education in Ghana.

He is a second term Member of Parliament for Assin South Constituency in the Eight Parliament of Ghana.

He is passionate about education transformation agenda and ably supports the Minister for Education in formulation and implementation of key policies and programs targeted at transforming education outcomes particularly across pre-tertiary education.

With a multifaceted background in Mineral Engineering, Economic Policy Management and Foreign Policy, Fordjour has a sterling record as legislator with prior experience in human capital development, large scale mining and entrepreneurship. At Gold Fields Ghana Ltd, Tarkwa Mine, he was responsible for the administration of Learning & Development function of the mine and assisted in the development of effective learning and training policies and systems.

Ntim Fordjour was awarded Bachelor’s degree in Mineral Engineering at age 21 by University of Mines & Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa. He also holds a Master of Arts Degree (MA) in Economic Policy Management from University of Ghana, Legon and Certificate in Governance and Anti-Corruption Methods from Georgetown University, Washington D.C. He is currently at the concluding stage of his PhD in Political Science with specialization in Foreign Policy at University of Ghana, Legon.

In the 8th Parliament, he serves on the Appointments Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee. In the 7th Parliament, he was the Chairman for Ghana-Canada Parliamentary Friendship Association, the Vice Chairman of Parliament’s Standing Committee on Members Holding Offices of Profit and member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education.

Ntim Fordjour is the Senior Pastor of Victory Bible Church International, Higher Heights Sanctuary in East Legon-Accra. He lives in Accra with his beautiful wife Tracy and blessed with four kids.

Professor Samuel Nii Odai

Professor of Hydraulics and Water Resources

He is a fellow of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences, a fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineers and a distinguished Commonwealth Academic Fellow. He is also the recipient of the prestigious National Best Research Scientist Gold Award for water, environment and sanitation.

Prof Odai has been actively involved in attracting several major grants to the university. He worked with colleagues to obtain a Dutch Government grant to start the MSc programme in water resources engineering and management in 2004. In 2011, he worked with other colleagues and obtained a German Government grant to establish the Climate Change and Land Use Centre for training professionals at the PhD level from the West African region. In 2013, he worked with a team to win a World Bank funding to establish a regional water and environmental sanitation centre of excellence for West Africa.

Professor Odai has served in several capacities in the University including Examinations Officer of the School of Engineering (now College of Engineering), Deputy Manager of the Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation Project, later becoming manager of the Water Resource and Environmental Sanitation Project. He is the founding Director of the WASCAL Programme in Climate Change and Land Use entre. He is the International Director of the UK-based Wellcome Trust-sponsored project under the theme “Scientists Networked for Outcomes in Water and Sanitation” (SNOWS). He has served as the Hostel Tutor of the Steven Paris Hostel (postgraduate facility) and later as the Hostel Master. He served as Editor of the KNUST Journal of Science and Technology and rose to become the Editor-in-Chief. He was the Head of the KNUST Quality Assurance and Planning Unit. He was an advisory board member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers Journal. He has served on several University Committees.

Professor Odai has extensive international experience, including Visiting Professor of Integrated Water Resources Management at the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology; academic visitor at the UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education in Delft, The Netherlands, a visiting academic on British Council sponsorship to the University of Newcastle, a visiting lecturer to the National University of Rwanda 2002 and 2003, a visiting fellow at the Water and Environmental Management Research Centre of the University of Bristol, a member of the Advisory Board for the African Regional Conference for Engineering Education, and a Technical Committee member of the UNESCO-IHE Partnership for Water Education and Research (PoWER). He has been consultant for DANIDA, IUCN, and worked for UNESCO-IHE in facilitating workshops in Zimbabwe and trainings in Indonesia and Ghana.

Prof Odai has been graciously elected twice (2012 and 2014) as the Pro Vice-Chancellor of KNUST by his colleagues and  the head of Civil Engineering Department of the KNUST until his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of the Accra Technical University. Prof Odai enjoys motivating and mentoring the next generation through public speaking. He has had the opportunity to speak at conferences in Ghana and other African countries.

Prof Odai is a Christian, and worships with the Calvary Charismatic Centre (CCC), Kumasi, where he is a Sunday School Teacher and a marriage counsellor. Professor Odai is married to Maurin and they are blessed with three children: one daughter – Marveline, and two sons – Adriel and Rophel.
